In celebration of National Caregiver Month, CoAction and the Multicultural Wellness Network are thrilled to announce “Harvesting Connections: Celebrating Caregivers and Older Adults.” This special event will take place on Saturday, November 16, 2024, from 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM at the Lake County Public Library, located at 1919 81st Ave, Merrillville, IN 46410.
This event, designed to honor caregivers and older adults in Northwest Indiana, recognizes the invaluable contributions caregivers make to their families and communities. More than 53 million Americans currently serve as unpaid caregivers, dedicating time, energy, and resources to support loved ones. Studies show that caregivers often spend an average of 20 hours per week providing care, and nearly 1 in 5 experience significant physical and emotional stress. With an aging population, the need for caregiver support and resources has never been more critical.
“Harvesting Connections” promises a day filled with joy, community, and support, featuring interactive games, activities, and a variety of vendors sharing valuable resources for caregivers and older adults alike. A complimentary lunch will also be provided.
CoAction is committed to creating supportive networks for caregivers and empowering older adults to live with dignity and independence. This event aligns with CoAction’s mission by offering practical support and community-building opportunities for families and individuals who take on the caregiving role.
Event Highlights Include:
- Games & Activities for attendees of all ages
