Rose Award Winner Izayah Edwards

After only a month of working as a service clerk at Jewel Osco in Crown Point, Izayah Edwards showed just what kind of stuff he was made off. When he noticed an elderly woman was short on money as he was bagging her groceries, he pulled out his wallet and offered her $20 without hesitation. Another customer captured the exchange on camera and posted it to Facebook where the video went viral.

Edwards created his own Facebook to see what all the commotion was about and was surprised to see how many people had watched and interacted with the video. His only focus in the moment was doing what he felt was the right thing to do.

“I told her I wasn’t doing this to get paid or reimbursed,” Edwards said. “I just want to help you.”

Congratulations on your well-deserved ROSE Award, Izayah!
