Summer is in full swing and school is on the minds of everyone as families prepare for the unique changes that could greet then when they return to school in August. If families haven't started already, school supply shopping is just around the corner. As stores begin stocking their shelves with school supplies, it could mean only one thing: it's time for the annual Kankakee Valley REMC school supply drive!
At Kankakee Valley REMC, it's a well-known fact that supporting our community starts with supporting our schools. That's why KV REMC is excited to announce the return of their seventh annual Pack-a-Backpack school supplies drive! Kankakee Valley REMC is asking local families to donate new school supplies to this worthy cause. A complete supply list can be found at kvremc.com, but a few items include backpacks, #2 pencils, glue sticks, colored pencils, markers, glue, rulers, and pencil boxes.
Pencils, pens, and paper may not seem crucial to you, but for many students and their families, finding a way to pay is the harsh reality. "With COVID-19 affecting so many families financially, it is more important than ever that we serve as an outlet to support families in need," stated Amanda Steeb, director of marketing & communications. It is during these challenging times that we must come together to support one another. Participating in this school supply collection is just one way to support our youth."
Kankakee Valley REMC encourages the community to consider picking up some extra school supplies for those less fortunate the next time you're out shopping. Supplies can be dropped off at Kankakee Valley REMC headquarters in Wanatah (8642 W. US Hwy 30,Wanatah). A box will be placed outside the front door Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m..
