Bookmarks at the Museum presents The Matchmaker
Join Susan Nichols for Bookmarks at the Museum on Thursday, September 18, at 2 pm at the Westchester Township History Museum, 700 W. Porter Avenue, Chesterton. Refreshments will be served.

The Matchmaker by Elin Hilderbrand is a touching new novel in which a woman sets out to find love for those closest to her – before it’s too late. Dabney Kimball Beech, the 48-year-old fifth generation Nantucketer, has had a lifelong gift of matchmaking (52 couples still to her credit). But when Dabney discovers she is dying of pancreatic cancer, she sets out to find matches for a few people very close to home: her husband, John Boxmiller Beech; her lover, Clendenin Hughes; and her daughter, Agnes, who is engaged to be married to the wrong man.

As time slips away from Dabney, she is determined to find matches for those she loves most – but at what cost to her own relationships?

The Matchmaker is a heartbreaking story about losing and finding love, even as you’re running out of time.

Bookmarks takes place on the third Thursday of the month at the museum and on the third Friday of the month at Michigan City Public Library, 100 E. 4th St., Michigan City.

It is not necessary to read the book before attending. Books are available at both Thomas and Hageman Libraries.

The museum, a free cultural and educational service of Westchester Public Library, is open to the public Wednesday-Sunday from 1-5 p.m. or by appointment. Call 983-9715 for more information.
