Governor Holcomb breaks ground on the West Lake expansion of the South Shore Rail Line
Numerous political officials from Indiana and beyond gathered in-person and virtually for the signing of the Full Funding Grant Agreement for the West Lake expansion of the South Shore Rail Line this morning. The grant agreement was signed virtually by FTA Deputy Administrator K. Jane Williams and in-person by Commissioner of the Indiana Department of Transporation Joe McGinnis after remarks were made by Governor Eric Holcomb and other federal partners. With all signatures now in place, work can officially begin on the Double Track project of the South Shore Rail Line.
Center of Workforce Innovations changes lives, offers training programs that boost clients’ careers
For 20 years the Center of Workforce Innovations (CWI) in Valparaiso has been working to provide demand-driven workforce solutions, helping to sustain and grow the economy while creating a better future for their clients. CWI serves as staff to the Northwest Indiana Workforce Board and provides oversight of nine WorkOne centers. Each center provides no-cost career and employment assistance for job seekers, employers, and young adults.
The Double Track NWI Project, a Region-wide initiative spanning from Gary to Michigan City, recently received federal funding from the Federal Transit Administration (FTA). The allocation of $50.6 million dollars from the FTA’s Federal Capital Investment Grant (CIG) Program will see the expansion of the South Shore Line, providing Region residents with double the amount of public transportation options.
NIPSCO’s Your Energy, Your Future Initiative saves $4 billion for customers through green energy
By the end of 2028, NIPSCO is planning to retire all of their coal-fired power generation in an initiative called Your Energy, Your Future. By incorporating clean and renewable energy sources, they are estimating a 90% reduction in carbon emissions, economic benefits around Northern Indiana, and over $4 billion in cost savings for their customers.
