St. Mary’s School Students Celebrate Catholic Schools Week 2017

st-mary-catholic-week-2017Schools all over the country recently took time to celebrate Catholic Schools Week 2017. St. Mary Catholic Community School in Crown Point spent the week enjoying special activities to celebrate.

Catholic Schools Week kicked off with a beautiful Mass lead by the SMS Student Council followed by a pancake breakfast and open house. St. Mary’s alumni visited from Andrean High School in Merrillville. During the visit, Andrean students worked with SMS students on projects, included a patriotic video supporting our servicemen and women.

St. Mary’s 1st and 2nd grade students lead the school in a Living Rosary on Tuesday. Students took time out on Wednesday to put together cookie platters to deliver to many service organizations in the Crown Point community. Students and teachers were also treated to special surprises during the week such as treats, prayer cards, teacher breakfast and luncheon.

The school week wound down with the, always popular, Teachers vs. 8th Grade students Volleyball game. Catholic Schools Week 2017 was closed out with a great evening of food, dancing for the parents and teachers, at an event called “Celebration Of Gifts” at Avalon Manor.
