Parents of youth, ages 5-14, who are interested in fun and instructional athletic leagues for their children, can register for the Spring co-ed youth basketball leagues at Boys & Girls Clubs of Porter County’s Valparaiso Unit now through March 7, 2014. The basketball league focuses on skill development, good sportsmanship and fair play.
Parents may register online at bgcpoco.org or at the Club (354 W. Jefferson Street, Valparaiso) between 4-8 p.m., March 4th – 5th; and 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. on March 7. There are a limited number of available spots for each age division. Registration early in the week is recommended.
Basketball league fees are $20 for the 5-7 year old division, $30 for the 8-9 year old division and 10-11 year old division, and $35 for the 12-14 year old division. There are a limited number of available spots for each age division. League fees include a T-shirt for players in the 5-7 year old division and a basketball jersey for players in the older divisions. Children must currently be enrolled in grades K-8. All players also must have a Club membership. Boys & Girls Club of Porter County offers affordable $35 annual memberships. Financial aid for membership and athletic league fees are available for those who qualify.
The fall basketball league season begins March 31, 2014 and ends May 24, 2014. Volunteers are needed for coaching positions. Coaches are required to complete a background screening successfully.
