Munster Police Seeking Volunteers in Police Service (VIPS) Applicants

munster-police-carThe Munster Police Department is currently seeking applicants for their Volunteers in Police Service (VIPS) Program. VIPS serve the department and community in a variety of ways ranging from office duties to traffic control, funeral escorts, vacation checks, vehicle tows, and patrol of neighborhoods and business districts in a marked VIPS patrol vehicle. VIPS are not armed and do not possess police powers.

Applicants must be Munster residents, 21 years of age or older, and will be asked to attend a mandatory orientation meeting on a later date. They must also pass a criminal background check and selection process after which they will be provided with training, uniforms and equipment if selected for the program.

Applications can be picked up from the Munster Police Department's Records window, located at 1001 Ridge Road, Mondays-Fridays from 8:00AM to 4:00PM and must be returned to Records by Friday, September 15, 2017 at 4:00PM.

For more information about our VIPS Program, please contact the Munster VIPS Coordinator, Sergeant Dan Broelmann, at 219-836-6610 or dbroelmann@munster.org. We look forward to hearing from you.
