Two area Boys Basketball teams are rolling into sectionals ranked in the final IBCA Top 20, while Lowell joins East Chicago and a host of DAC teams just on the outside looking in.
Merrillville finished the season #2 after their regular season finale win against Penn, while Griffith fell one spot to #15 in the final rankings.
The Pirates begin their march to State this week in a loaded sectional against a tough Valparaiso squad that features six seniors looking to extend their season, while Griffith begins their run at a potential second-straight State Championship Game against Hammond Clark in Hammond.
Also in IBCA news, the final results in the “Others Receiving Votes” category has three teams (Chesterton, Crown Point, and Valparaiso) joining Merrillville in the same sectional. Opening the door for a wild sectional where any team has a shot to win.
