Meals-on-WheelsOn Wednesday, April 23, Meals on Wheels will be honoring their volunteers with a luncheon at the Avalon Manor, Merrillville, Indiana.

More than 30 volunteers will receive the Presidential Service Award. The bronze award is in recognition of adult volunteers who contribute more than 100 hours per year. Two recipients will receive the silver award recognizing their contribution of more than 250 hours from the previous year. This award consists of a personalized certificate, a letter signed by President Barack Obama, and a pin signifying their achievements.

“In addition to individuals, three corporate/civic volunteers will receive their plaques for 5, 15 and 20 years of service to Meals on Wheels,” said Joan Vith, Volunteer Manager. “We could not deliver our meals without the generous support of community and civic organizations. This year, The Women’s Service League, which delivers in our Dyer/Schererville area will be recognized for their 5 years of volunteering. The Hammond Marina, will receive a recognition for their 15 years of service to our Whiting community; and Centier Bank will be recognized for their 20 years of assisting us in delivering meals throughout Northwest Indiana.”
