Ingrid began her career at the library in 1977 as a teenager. Since then she received her Master's Degree in Library Science from Indiana University and has worked her way up through the library serving as a Branch Manager, Head of Branches, the Chief Information Officer, and as Assistant Director from which she has been since 2012.

Edith Dakich, President of the Lake County Public Library Board of Trustees stated, “The Board of Trustees is very pleased to welcome Ingrid Norris as the new Director of the Lake County Public Library system. She is highly qualified to continue the tradition of excellence set by the past Directors. Ms. Norris' combination of 37 years of experience with the Lake County libraries, her leadership skills, and her cutting-edge knowledge of technology make her an excellent choice. Under her leadership, the Lake County Public Library system can successfully continue to meet the evolving needs of its patrons.”

Norris's goal is to continue to be a major component of the Lake County's education system. With a vast collection of physical items, specialized online research tools, and free instructional classes, the library provides education for everyone, from curious infants to the wisest of seniors.

“I believe that libraries can change lives, and to be a part of that process is truly fulfilling. The library's excellent past leaders have set a high bar, and I hope to continue the tradition of great leadership in the library.”

This is the library's eighth director in the library's 55 year history.
