Don Roberts’ Immersive Massage Programs Can Lead Into New Career Opportunities

Massage therapy is one of civilization’s oldest relaxation techniques, with official records dating back to the Egyptian invention of Reflexology around 2500 B.C. At Don Robert’s Beauty School, students can learn the ever-evolving science behind the practice.

Their 10-month course offers training to anyone from experienced aestheticians and to students new to the field. Massage therapy is a lucrative business on its own, but it is also a great way for companies to expand. Cosmetologists can give hand or foot massages to customers waiting for hair coloring to set. Specialty techniques like Deep Tissue or Sport massages can also be added to a spa’s repertoire, while techniques like Effleurage (a long stroke) and Tapotement (sharp and rapid striking) have a different effect on the body.

Anatomy, Physiology, Pressure Points, and other course topics explain the reasoning behind varying massages and why they work. It is comprehensive: they even have a chapter called Ingredients, that takes an in depth look at the contents of essential oils.

“There are so many ways students can go with their careers,” said Mo Santos, the Marketing Coordinator for Don Roberts. “We want to know that they want so we can teach specific to that. We want to help them with their career goals.”

Don Roberts is accepting applications for all their programs. Interested parties are invited to schedule a Discovery Day, where they receive one-on-one consultation with the school and a tour of the facility.

“We like to give individualized education to cater to learners needs. It’s about them,” explains Santos.

Don-Roberts-Academy-4Each section of the massage therapy course can be taught in a way that suits its students. If the class is comprised with a majority of hands-on learners, then they will start with demonstrations and move on to books.

The course requires 750 clock hours in order to be completed. Students are prepared for the state’s Massage Therapy Certification, which requires a certain amount of hours and completion of a standardized test. It also requires experience in the field. Don Robert’s students get their practice through customers to the Beauty School.

The school is open to the public, like any spa or salon. Each of their services, listed online, are supervised by licensed instructors. Massages improve wellness, and state of mind. Don Robert’s encourages confidence in its students and in its customers. These massages start at just $25 for a 30-minute body massage with add-on services available.

“Come do your good deed of the day and leave feeling more relaxed,” said Santos. “It helps our students achieve their career goals.”
