Crown Point High School Student Takes on Position of Lieutenant Governor of the Arrowhead Division

Lauren-AshbyLauren Ashby, junior at Crown Point High School, is the Vice President of Key Club. She has also taken on the state position of Lieutenant Governor of the Arrowhead Division, putting her in charge of three schools in Indiana; and she is planning to charter more schools in her division. Lauren has attended leadership seminars in Brookston, IN, Indianapolis IN, and most recently in North Carolina, where she met with other Lieutenant Governors from all over the country.

CPHS Key Club has 150+ members this year. Key Club has over 4 projects per month serving the school and the community. The club has already raised $1500 to donate to Rebuilding Together so that more of the elderly will have safe and warm houses for the winter months. Key Club also invited all of the elementary aged children of Crown Point to their annual Halloween Party and will sponsor Breakfast with Santa on December 13th. Lauren has played vital role in planning both of these events.

As Vice President of Crown Point High School Key Club, Lauren Ashby is in charge of all of the communication to the club. Remind 101 has become a part of her daily routine. Lauren also works with the CPHS Key Club Board members to organize new projects and guides committee chairs as they work through logistics. Everyone knows that Lauren is their “go-to-gal” for information and help. It is her hope that she will be able to train other Key Club members to become better leaders in their school and their community. She would also like to charter Builders Clubs at the CPCSC middle schools.

Besides spending countless hours on Key Club events, Lauren is also the President of CPHS German Club. She helped her sponsor and fellow officers to create a calendar of exciting events for the 2015-2016 school year, which includes an Oktoberfest, movie and a pizza, a gingerbread house building contest, dinner at Cafe Fondue and fieldtrips to Chicago and Indianapolis.

Lauren also maintains great grades and works 8-10 hours per week. Her time management skills are incredible. It is her ambition to become the State Governor of Indiana for the 2016-2017 school year. The CPHS Key Club is very proud to have Lauren serving as their Vice President and the members of German Club are excited to have her as their leader as well.
