For the sixth year in a row, the Crown Point Community Foundation has generously awarded a grant to fund Advanced Placement end-of-course tests to students who demonstrate a financial need. This year, Crown Point High School awarded 37 scholarships to students who plan to take one or more Advanced Placement tests in May of this year. With the exception of math, science, English, and computer science tests, all other AP tests cost $92.00 each. (Please note that students on Free/Reduced Lunch do not pay for their exams.)
Many students take multiple tests. To qualify for one of the 37 scholarships worth $77.00 each, students were encouraged by their AP teachers to submit an essay to the Scholarship Committee which comprised Advanced Placement teachers and CPHS administration. The committee judges the essays on the following criteria: demonstration of financial need, the number of AP tests the student plans to take, and the quality of the essay. On April 4th, the AP grants were distributed to the recipients. Students receiving AP grants this year are; Natalie Brigham, Karlie Carpenter, Ann DeMars, Nathan DeMars, Kailee Erdelac, Lauren Feder, Antonio Gaeta, Andrew Gianfermi, Jacquelyn Ham, John Hanlon, Alessandro Italiano, Kyle Kuiper, Andrea Kutemeier, Sara Kwiatkowski, Lindsey LaBuda, Josh Lindeman, Andrew Loewe, Francesca Metlov, Christopher Newlin, John Sakaleros, Noah Scibbe, Taylor Smith, Amber Stutler, Kaitlyn Szpak, Sarah Thompson, Julie Tran, Hannah Wylie, and Leo Zdanowicz.
The Crown Point High School family, including the administration, students, parents, and teachers, are most appreciative of the Foundation’s support of the Advanced Placement program.
