Athletic Council Performs 200+ Hours of Volunteerism for Special Needs Children in the CPCSC

crown-pont-athletic-council-volunteers-for-special-needs-children-01The Athletic council has formed a partnership with “Champions Together” an initiative started by the IHSAA in servant leadership. Throughout the 2013-14 School years the Athletic council at Crown Point High School has performed over 200 hours of community service hours in sponsoring camps and activities for the special needs students in the Crown Point Community School Corporation.

The athletic council is comprised of athletes representing all the programs at CPHS. Most recently council member Paul Dawley organized a unified track and field day at Crown Point High School. Members of the boys and girls track teams participated in the event. In addition council member Jenna McCarroll organized a unified soccer day at the dome in Crown Point. The athletic council in conjunction with the special needs department and best buddies sponsored a special Olympics Basketball tournament at CPHS.
