westchester-photo-montageHistory Discussion Group at the Museum
History buffs and those who are simply interested in learning more about history are invited to Westchester Public Library’s History Discussion Group on Saturday, September 13, from 11:00 am – 12:30 pm. The group will meet in the parlor at the Westchester Township History Museum, 700 W. Porter Avenue, Chesterton. Registration is not necessary.

Benjamin Franklin will be the topic of discussion this month. From his impoverished childhood to his role in establishing a new country, Franklin’s life is very interesting. Franklin’s campaign for colonial unity, his writings, his representation of the colonies in London, and his position as the first US ambassador to France earned him the title of “The First American.” His job titles abound, from newspaper editor/publisher to diplomat to postmaster and more. Franklin’s colorful life and legacy of scientific and political achievement has secured for him a beloved place in history.

The group is open to anyone interested in history and conversations about history. Feel free to participate or sit back and listen.
