Participation in clinic is free
Lake County Parks and the South Shore Convention and Visitors Authority will be offering a disc golf clinic on Saturday, July 27, from 11:00 a.m. to noon. Beginning at the Lemon Lake Flight Center, attendees will learn the basics of disc golf from a professional player.
Brian Cummings, Professional Disc Golf Association Professional World Championships Tournament Director and PDGA Hall-of-Famer, will lead attendees as he demonstrates a variety of long shots, disc golfing etiquette, different types of throws dependent on the situation and when to change discs.
According to Sandy Basala, Lake County Parks Superintendent of Visitor Services, disc golfing is a sport in which people of all ages can enjoy.
“Disc golfing is a great way to bring the entire family outdoors. The sport is also inexpensive to play with beginner discs starting at just a few dollars,” said Basala.
Attendees must pay the Lemon Lake County Park gate fee, while participation in the clinic is free. Lemon Lake County Park’s gate fee is $5 per car in-county and $8 per car out-of-county.
Also available at Lemon Lake County Park are hiking trails, volleyball courts, picnic shelters, softball diamonds and more. For more information on Lemon Lake County Park, visit www.lakecountyparks.com/parks/lemon_lake.html.
