La Porte Mayor Tom Dermody (right) swears in CPT Bill Degnegaard (left) as the new assistant chief of police on Monday, June 14, 2021, at City Hall in La Porte. A 21-year veteran of the department, Degnegaard has served as a Captain for 4 years and was named an Executive Captain under a previous administration.
