As the play begins, Othello has risen from slavery to become an army general and found love with the beautiful Desdemona. But Iago, one of Shakespeare’s most devious villains, uses racism and jealousy to manipulate Othello toward his demise and ruin. We feel this story will resonate with many people as if it were written today.
