Korellis Roofing Makes ‘Giving Back’ Their Number One Priority

No company is greater than the one that continues to give back to the community they live in. Through charity work and donations, the Korellis family has made an incredible impact on the lives of many in the Northwest Indiana region for the last 60 years.

For the second time around they participated in Red Nose Day, an effort to end childhood poverty. Since 2015, the organization has raised over an incredible $150 million for the mission, and are proud to be a part of that great number.

“Not only is it a great cause, but it’s a silly event around the office that creates great camaraderie among coworkers,” said Kali Zaremba, Marketing Coordinator of Korellis Roofing.

Since 2010 they have been involved with local Boys and Girls Clubs. What started as a roofing project for their organization evolved into a greater relationship and partnership with local Boys and Girls Clubs.

“In the past, we’ve done bike donations or monetary gifts, but now we have a toy drive,” Zaremba said of their relationship with Boys and Girls Clubs. “Our staff of nearly 200 brings in new and gently-used toys as an opportunity to provide gifts to those that may not otherwise have anything to open during the holidays.”

Year after year, the drive continues to grow. What used to be stored in an office, has grown to fill up the entire lobby used as a donation drop off.

“It’s amazing to watch the collection grow and know that we are going to make a difference to the holidays for many children and families,” Zaremba said.

This year Korellis also donated labor and equipment to tear off existing shingles on the former Hansen Branch Library in the Hessville neighborhood of Hammond. The once-vacant facility is being converted into a veterans museum and to offer adult workforce developmental services.

“In their personal time, several of Korellis’ roofers donated additional time and labor to install the new shingles on the roof, in conjunction with Local Roofers 26,” Zaremba said.

The team believes in the importance of giving back because of the common goal they share: to make their communities the highest quality place to live and work.

Korellis looks to their newest venture, the George and Harriet Korellis Roofing Scholarship program as a way for employees or their loved ones to pursue higher education.

“Our president and CEO, Pete Korellis, along with his wife, Susan, have created this program for employees, their children, and even their grandchildren,” Zaremba said. “In 2018, the inaugural year, they gave away e scholarships ranging from three- to five- thousand dollars each.”
