The Burns Harbor Park Department’s 3rd Annual Fall Fest and Pumpkin 5K Dash drew a large crowd last Saturday at Lakeland Park despite the Cubs game that was also scheduled for that evening.
The 5K Pumpkin Dash was the opening event with 75 runners participating who had the option to carry a pumpkin for the last leg of the run. The runners who placed first in a men, women, and youth division received a Designer Desserts cupcake and gift card.
More than 80 children and families attended the Fall Fest which began immediately following the conclusion of the race. The event included food, carnival style games, bounce houses, S’mores and a bonfire.
A special thank you to all of the volunteers who made the evening possible including the 4H club, Girl Scouts, and many friends of the park department. This event is a fundraiser to support programming for all ages at the park.
