Portage Township YMCA Total Knockout Trivia 
Join the Portage Township YMCA for the Team Trivia Event of the Year! With just $10 admission, put together your dream team of 8 and theme your team! Best costumes win a prize, plus cash-value prizes for top 3 teams.

Memorial Opera House Presents "Into the Woods" 
The Brothers Grimm hit the stage with an epic fairytale about wishes, family and the choices we make. James Lapine and Stephen Sondheim take everyone's favorite storybook characters and bring them together for a timeless yet relevant piece and rare modern classic. The TONY Award-winning book and score are both enchanting and touching. Memorial Opera House is pleased to collaborate with their in house orchestra: South Shore Orchestra on this wonderful theatrical event.

Lorie’s Lakeside Century
The Visiting Nurse Association’s (VNA) annual bike ride, Lorie’s Lakeside Century, is Saturday, September 17th. Registration is from 7am – noon CST at ride headquarters at the Liberty Bible Church, 824 North Calumet Avenue in Chesterton. Once again, this year’s ride offers a variety of routes from 26 miles to a 100 mile century and several options in between for both the serious cyclist and the recreational rider. Bike at your own pace along routes that include unique rest stops along the way, including Jackson Elementary in Valparaiso, featuring live entertainment from 11 am to 2 pm; Lakeview Pavilion in Beverly Shores, with a stunning view of Lake Michigan; Lions Club Pavilion in New Buffalo, a Lake Michigan view with an Elvis twist; and, Firefly Farm, a 305 acre working horse farm in LaPorte County.

18th Annual Sunflower Fair 
The Sunflower Fair in beautiful, historic Downtown La Porte is one of the largest area festivals with over 100 craft and nonprofit vendors. Enjoy a day with family and friends for food, entertainment, rides, and much, much more on September 17 from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. The event takes place along Michigan Avenue south of Lincolnway. Enjoy the many activities of the day- a rib cook-off, a 5K run and fun walk, sunflower contest, an art walk, rides, food, and of course much, much more!

Local 1124 Annual Picnic with Firemen
Come enjoy free lunch, visit with the firefighters, learn about fire safety, look at the fire apparatus, play at FOUNDATION MEADOWS/BUTTERFLY MEADOWS AND CATERPILLAR CROSSING PARK, and run through the water curtain. Helpful tips: Be sure to bring sunscreen, hat/sunglasses, beach towel, bathing suit, dry clothes/shoes, hungry tummy's!

Runnin’ for Prestin 
The Runnin' for Prestin Foundation exists to promote awareness and raise funds for pediatric cancer research which is the least funded cancer researched in the US despite being also the number one disease causing death of children in the US. The next race is set for Saturday, September 17th at Washington Park in Michigan City. Details can be found on the facebook page Runnin' for Prestin or at www.runninforprestin.com

Bacon Fest
Come have bacon, play some games, and listen to some music. Last year we had over 5,000 attendees and this year we'd like to double that. We're planning big changes to bacon fest portage this year and we can't wait to share those with you. Bacon Fest Portage is a 1 day, family oriented, festival in Portage Indiana. Held at Founders Square Park. Bacon Fest is a festival where we bring out all the local restaurant owners from NWI to one place and they create a special menu centered around BACON to promote their business's food, chef's and creativity.

The Second Annual Hammond Hops Fest
It’s back! Mayor Thomas M. McDermott, Jr. and the Hammond Port Authority are proud to announce the return of the Hammond Hops Fest on Saturday, September 17th! This year, all beer! Get your tickets today at ticketweb.com or visit the Hammond Marina at 701 Casino Center Drive. VIP Access- Get in one hour early and sample limited VIP brews. VIP tickets are $60. Entry starts at noon for VIPs. General admission- Join the fun from 1 pm- 4 pm. General admission tickets are $40.

2016 City of Hobart Brews and Blues Festival
This is a BrewFest event fundraiser that welcomes local breweries and beyond to our beautiful Festival Park on the Lake. General Admission Concert Ticket (New this year) begins at 3pm granting entry to the 2 bands performing and a craft beer garden open for purchase. Unlimited Sampling Ticket begins at 3pm with several breweries serving unlimited samples of their product. Food will be available for purchase.

Hospice Hustle 2016
Join in on the Hospice Hustle on Sunday, September 18, 2016. Event Co-Chairs, Bill Hasse and Gus Galante, M.D. 25, 62 & 100 mile cycling eventBeginning and ending at the Lake County Fairgrounds, Crown Point $35 per cyclist $40 per cyclist day of event.
