Beginning Colored Pencils class at Art Barn

Artist Christine Hubbell will introduce students to painting with colored pencils. Color theory, techniques for layering and blending, and composition will be covered in this 5-week class. Working with fruits and flowers, students will explore ways to produce vibrant color, rich neutrals, and a variety of textures. Beginning drawing skills are helpful but not required. Fine art paper will be supplied. Students should plan to bring:

• Minimum set of 12 artist grade colored pencils (such as Faber-Castell Polychromos, Prismacolor Premier, or Caran d'Ache Luminance)
• Additional individual colors (instructor will provide a list during class)
• Drawing pad or sketchbook
• Pencil
• Kneaded eraser
• Pencil sharpener (recommended: Rapesco 64 desk top pencil sharpener, available on Amazon)
