Klein Named Championship Series MVP

Left fielder Adam Klein was named the Most Valuable Player in the American Association Championship Series for his performance in the RailCats victory over the Wichita Wingnuts.

In the four-game series, Klein went 8-for-15 (.533) with five RBI, five runs scored, four walks and a pair of doubles. In game one, Adam drove in three runs in game one, one in each of his final three at-bats as the RailCats took a 9-4 victory. He had the game-tying RBI off Wingnuts closer Josh Dew in the ninth inning of game two and went 4-for-4 with a walk in the RailCats game three victory.

Adam’s performance against Wichita capped off a dazzling postseason. Overall in six postseason games, Klein went 12-for-30 (.400) with a team-high three doubles. His 12 hits were tied for second most on the team behind Mike Massaro; who had 14.

During the regular season, Klein hit .288 and led the American Association in walks with 78. His .416 on-base percentage was tied for fifth best in the league. 2013 was the fifth time in six minor league seasons that Klein ranked in the top-10 in the league in walks.
