A fresh coat of paint for a fresh new school year
The school year is starting up again and soon students will be roaming the halls and classrooms. The silence of the summer months turns into a cacophony of sounds with the student’s arrival. But what was happening in the school while students were off for the summer? The team at CertaPro Painters of Northwest Indiana can tell you just what they were doing in certain Region schools… painting!
In 2014, John Jordan, owner at CertaPro Painters of Northwest Indiana began working with the Duneland School Corporation to help fulfill their painting needs. Five years later, he has grown the network of schools they service to include the Tri-Creek School Corporation, Kankakee Valley School Corporation, Munster, Highland, Crown Point, and Lake Ridge schools. A plethora of opportunities are still out there, and Jordan hopes to continue growing the list of schools his company paints.
“I enjoy building a long-term relationship with the schools, where you can meet the ever-changing needs of the administrators,” he said. “It’s great to be a part of their team.”
Commercial painting takes a lot of skill, planning, and preparation to do correctly, and the highly-qualified team at CertaPro Painters of Northwest Indiana have those qualities in spades. Being able to work for the local schools year after year is proof to Jordan that his crews are out in the field, doing the work in a timely and professional manner.
“If we did not perform well in the field, there’s a good chance that we would not be asked back,” Jordan said. “The fact that we’ve been doing this every year says a lot about the performance of the crews we have.”
Each summer, multiple crews (averaging two to four painters per crew) represent the high standards of CertaPro Painters of Northwest Indiana as they complete projects in area schools. With a rather short-term window to paint while the students are out for summer, the ability to work quickly with high quality is something CertaPro Painters of Northwest Indiana values.
“Commercial painting is about skill, speed, and delivering a finished, quality product to your customer,” Jordan said. “You have to have a well-rounded skill set. You have to be good at planning and doing research to make sure that you’re using the right products, systems, and preparations.”
Schools have to maintain a strict budget and timeline, which helps CertaPro Painters of Northwest Indiana as they look ahead at the scope of work they have for the year. Administrators will usually contact them early in the year to schedule the painting needed well in advance, allowing Jordan to know how much additional commercial and residential work he can bring in for his crews.
“When I’m working with schools, they’re smart with how they manage their budget,” he said. “It’s not usually short notice for work. They’re planning ahead, and that’s good for our business.”
Being able to keep the schools on as clients is proof that CertaPro Painters of Northwest Indiana is a highly-skilled and professional organization that knows just how to care for both commercial and residential painting needs. Jordan knows that there are other options for the schools out there, but it is a boost to CertaPro Painters of Northwest Indiana that they are continuing to offer high-quality service and a professional end product.
“It means a lot that they keep hiring us. I know that there is probably plenty of options for them to find other companies and the fact that we’re consistently selected says a lot about our performance and the relationships that we’ve built,” Jordan said.
Students who are just now coming back to school may not notice the hard work that was being put in by CertaPro Painters of Northwest Indiana throughout the summer to keep their school looking fresh and clean, but Jordan and his team are well aware, and happy that they were a part of it.
“We’re proud to be the selected provider to be working at these schools in NWI, helping to protect and beautify them before the students come back every year.”
