The Merrillville Pirates’ fell to the Westfield Shamrocks 41-23 in Friday’s Semi-State matchup.

The Pirates took a lead early, but struggled to find a rhythm in their offense – and following key turnovers, the Shamrocks were able to build a sizeable lead. Though their season ends tonight, Head Coach Brad Seiss noted how proud he was of his team’s accomplishments this year.

“We’ve played well on the field but I’m just as proud of the team for how they’ve managed at home, in the locker room, training room and everywhere else,” he said. “As we’ve navigated through a season of COVID era football, the kids should be proud of themselves for the way they’ve handled their social lives. Our record might be 10-2 but really each week we feel like we’re undefeated because we have been able to play each week and there aren’t many schools that can say that.”
