BOYS FOOTBALL Chesterton VS. Michigan City 2024
Published: September 6, 2024FINAL SCORE: 20-0 Michigan City
Tonight was Pop Warner Night, as the various Chesterton Elementary and Jr. High football and cheer squads were honored during halftime. It was also senior night for the Chesterton High School Band, as the band students were honored with their families before the start of the game.
There were four Chesterton HS students from Mrs. Jessica Evans’ and Mrs. Jamie Evans’ applied skills class that were selected to be honorary captains. Richard Jegen, Autumn Downey, Alexis Richey, and Melody Stephenson got to walk onto the field under the Friday Night Lights with the football captains for the coin toss before the kickoff.
“It was a bit of a hard game. Chesterton fought really hard. We played hard teams but they came out for it. It’s the first DAC game and it was just something about it. Our O-Line coach played [at Chesterton] when he was in high school and we had to get a win for him. You have to fight and you have to have the passion to play,” Wes Schmidt, Michigan City-Offensive Center, said.
