Virtual seminar explores breast cancer screening, treatment options

Join Franciscan Health for a free virtual seminar to learn about how we create a personalized breast screening plan for our patients and provide a tailored treatment plan for those who are diagnosed with breast cancer.

The online seminar will be 6 to 7PM CST on Wednesday, October 28. Though the seminar is free, registration is required by Monday, October 26, by going to FranciscanHealth.org/Events.

Breast cancer is the second most common cause of cancer deaths among U.S. women, and one in eight women will be diagnosed with breast cancer during their lifetime.  Madelyn Lefranc, MD, Director of Breast Imaging Services at Franciscan Health Lafayette, will provide vital information on several breast imaging recommendations on screening topics, including:

  • Risk factors you cannot control
  • Risk factors you can control
  • Breast imaging recommendations on screening
  • Warning signs and symptoms

Special guests at the virtual seminar will include Dr. Juliana Meyer, Dr. Erika Rager and Dr. Alejandra Perez-Tamayo, breast surgeons at Franciscan Health Cancer Center and will discuss:

  • Personalized and advanced treatment options for breast cancer
  • Genetics and breast cancer
