Portage High School and the Army National Guard to host Hometown Heroes Night

Portage High School’s athletic department, in conjunction with its varsity football team, will be honoring local first responders and military members at Hometown Heroes Night, presented by the Army National Guard. Current and retired members of the U.S. military and first responders are invited to attend the September 20 home football game vs. Crown Point High School, where they will receive free admission with the presentation of a military ID or badge. The Portage football team will receive special jerseys from the Army National Guard to wear during the game in special honor of its Hometown Heroes. The event begins at 5:30 p.m. with a First Responder Vehicle Expo, where the public is encouraged to visit with our first responders and view their emergency vehicles. All military members and first responders attending the game will be recognized at 6:45 p.m. prior to the start of the game. Those planning on being recognized should report to the South End Zone of the football field at 6:30 p.m. Kickoff takes place at 7:00 p.m. Questions should be directed to the Portage High School Athletic Department at 219-764-6049.
