One Book, One Community: A Discussion with Anthony Ray Hinton

One Book, One Community: A Discussion with Anthony Ray Hinton

Event Information

5:57pm - 5:57pm

Purdue University Northwest (PNW) and the Hammond Public Library invite the community to join in the One Book, One Community program of reading, reflection, and discussion.

In 1985, Anthony Ray Hinton was arrested and charged with two counts of capital murder in Alabama. Stunned, confused, and only twenty-nine years old, Hinton knew that it was a case of mistaken identity and believed that the truth would prove his innocence and ultimately set him free. Sentenced to the death penalty, he would spend the next thirty years on a quest for justice—and finally see the sun again.

Join us for discussion and dialogue with Anthony Ray Hinton, author of the book “The Sun Does Shine: How I Found Life, Freedom, and Justice.” This event will take place from 2:30 p.m. - 4:30 p.m. on Thursday, April 22 virtually via Zoom.  This event is free, although registration is required.
