Event Information
Lubeznik Center for the Arts (LCA) will have a family day workshop on Saturday, June 1, 2024, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Central. All ages are welcome to join. Admission is free, as always, but please RSVP to artinfo@lubeznikcenter.org.
Families can participate in a workshop with the Chicago ACT Collective, a group of artists, musicians, writers, scholars and educators, including Jessica Mueller and Hilesh Patel, who will facilitate a free poetry and visual art workshop. Participants may drop in from 11 AM-3 PM Central. The workshop will merge poetry writing with screen printing.
Participants will respond to series of writing prompts on large sheets of white paper. Each prompt will have some relationship to the current Lubeznik Center exhibition, Stitched, Woven & Hooked, as well as prompts related to the Northwest Indiana community.
Individuals can choose to take these prompts and screen print words with them to create a poem/artwork with a new meaning. This process of writing and overlaying words will explore ideas of community and memory. This workshop is intergenerational and welcomes all ages. Artworks produced will be for the participants to keep. Snacks included!
This engagement is supported by the Arts Midwest GIG Fund, a program of Arts Midwest that is supported by the National Endowment for the Arts, with additional contributions from Indiana Arts Commission.
