Trick or Treat Downtown October 24 & Pumpkin Palooza October 25

rot1Downtown businesses will be offering trick or treating for Duneland families this year on Friday, October 24, from 4-6pm. Parents and their children should look for purple flyers in the windows of participating businesses along Indian Boundary, Calumet and Broadway in Chesterton.

Additionally, Chesterton Fire Department will park there fire truck in the Duneland Chamber of Commerce parking lot, located at 220 Broadway in Chesterton, for children to explore. Duneland families will also be able to collect candy from organizations hosting booths in the parking lot as well.

“Last year, we welcomed over 1,000 local children and their families to this trick-or-treating event,” says Maura Durham, the Chamber’s President. “The streets were filled with little super heroes, witches, monsters and ghosts. It was fantastic! This year, we’ve expanded the celebration to welcome other organizations who wanted to give out candy downtown. Our parking lot and Thomas Centennial Park will be great spots to see Halloween decorations and pick up treats…in addition to storefronts along Indian Boundary, Calumet and Broadway.”

The Chamber will also be hosting its Annual Pumpkin Palooza event during the last Saturday of the European Market season on October 25. Visit the Market at Third & Broadway in Chesterton for trick-or-treating with the market merchants, free pumpkin decorating (8am – 2pm) and a costume contest for kids (at 10am) and for puppies (11am).
