Yost Elementary School fourth grade teacher Mrs. Lindsay Trout volunteered this year to be a “celebrity†dancer at the Duneland Y's biggest fundraiser, Dancing Like The Stars. Each dancer faces the arduous task of learning how to perform a ballroom dance routine in front of a huge audience, and is asked to enlist the help of friends and relatives to raise funds for the Y' Annual Support Campaign.
Events like Dancing Like The Stars ensure that Y programs and services remain available to all. Mrs. Trout's efforts and her commitment to excellence were amazing. After countless hours of dance lessons and practice, she won the award for best performance of the evening. With the help of her family, friends and students, Mrs. Trout’s efforts made a significant impact on the community, helping to ensure that no child or family is turned away from Y services.
When Mrs. Trout asked Yost's 4th grade students to help her raise money to help those less fortunate, the kids couldn't wait to be part of the mission. She offered one homework free night per child for a one dollar donation. The Yost 4th graders raised $100 to be donated in support of Mrs. Trout. Their generous contributions as well as their sincere response to help others in need proves that everyone, given the opportunity, can make a difference in the lives of others.
