WoodSpring Suites offer clean, affordable living space for extended stays

The common stereotype of hotels is generally straightforward – a fairly pricy, flashy stay-over, with a bed, bathroom, pool, and a continental breakfast. You stay a night, maybe two, and spend most of your time away from the hotel. However, that stereotype only fits the needs of one segment of hotel guests. Many need to settle in an area for a longer stretch of time and would miss the comforts of a home, like their own kitchen.

That is where WoodSpring Suites steps in to fill the gap. As an extended stay hotel, WoodSpring offers affordable rates on suites that blend the comforts of home with the convenience and accessibility of a hotel. Each suite offers an in-room kitchen, free Wi-Fi, 24/7 access to a laundry room, and a safe, comfortable, quiet place to live and work throughout your stay.

“What we offer is a higher standard of cleanliness while keeping the price down,” said Steve Laird, Project Manager and Owners Representative for Holladay Properties’ WoodSpring Suites portfolio. “We’re able to keep our prices highly affordable because we’re not packing in things like pools and other amenities that many guests never actually use. It’s our driving philosophy to be the cleanest, nicest hotel in our price range – anywhere around.”

WoodSpring Suites aim to meet the needs of everyone who needs to settle down for a temporary, but longer-term stay. Some of its guests are on extended business trips, others might have recently moved and are waiting for their new house to close or finish construction.

“We’re for a specific set of people,” Laird said. “If you’re coming into town and just want a quiet place to come home to after work and maybe make yourself a little dinner in the kitchen, we’re perfect for that. There’s a large subset of people who need a place like that for a few days or weeks, and traditional hotels just don’t really fit their needs. They want to eat something other than fast food every night.”

Many WoodSpring Suites locations are pet-friendly, allowing guests to keep their whole family together in a space designed for a long-term stay.

“At traditional, or high-end hotels you’re usually out and about, at the pool, in the bar, or wherever else, you’re not really spending a lot of time in your room,” Laird said. “At WoodSpring, you’re in the room, and that means we need to maintain that higher level of quality and cleanliness for our guests’ living space. We’ve got to be cleaner because that’s where our guests are.”

Laird noted that WoodSpring Suites is booming. The company recently opened two new extended-stay hotels, with two more in development. Their goal is to reach 15 total in the Chicagoland area.

“We’re growing very quickly,” Laird said. “Our guests have made us one of the fastest-growing extended-stay brands in the country, and our goal is to meet our promise of a clean, safe, environment.”
