Wood-Elementary-4th-Graders-Graduate-from-Too-Good-For-Drugs-ProgramOn Thursday, December 6, 2018, the fourth grade students at Wood Elementary School gathered in the multi-purpose room for a special ceremony. They were all graduating from the Too Good For Drugs Program. Wood Elementary fourth grade students were the only Merrillville Elementary School to participate in this program due to their unique partnership with the Hobart Police Department.

Too Good For Drugs is a program that instills a sense of confidence in kids and prepares them with the skills necessary to grow into happy, healthy adults. The Too Good For Drugs curriculum supports social and emotional learning in order to help kids gain confidence to make healthy choices and achieve success. Students in fourth grade learned how to set daily goals, identify emotions and feelings, and make healthy choices that help contribute to their overall health and well-being. Too Good For Drugs really lays the groundwork for drug-free living. This is a ten week program taught by Hobart Police Department Officers. Even the K-9 unit came to show off their amazing skills. Congratulations to the Fourth Grade Students at Wood Elementary!
