Winning Score of 60 at United Way of Porter County’s Inaugural Golf Classic

unitedway-golf-winning-teamA monsoon morning opened up to clear blue skies by afternoon at United Way of Porter County’s 1st Golf Outing held at Sand Creek Country Club this week on May 25th. Presented by Porter Health System, the Inaugural Golf Classic had 120 registered golfers in its first year and netted $34,000 to benefit United Way’s Community Fund. Top honors went to team members Bob Macmahon, Jon Wolf and Jeff Albertson for shooting a 60 on the scramble. Their names will be engraved on a perpetual trophy which will remain in the United Way office on display.

Jonathan Nalli, CEO of Porter, and his team may not have taken 1st place in the tournament, but they were pleased to be top sponsor. Nalli’s comments emphasized the importance of taking care of one’s health and reminded golfers to fill up their gifted water bottles often and to exercise. He also stated, “It was a good fit for Porter to sponsor this United Way event because of the agency’s focus on funding programs which improve the mental and physical health of Porter County residents.”

Very pleased the Golf Classic was able to take place despite weather concerns, Greg Fox, Event Chair and United Way Board Member, was ecstatic that golfers were able to get in all 18 holes. “We certainly didn’t want to have to cancel our 1st Golf Classic,” Fox added. “We look forward to another great outing next year!”
