The Winfield LOFS Chamber of Commerce Scholarship Program was established to provide financial assistance to eligible high school graduates in the chamber's service area. The program affirms the chamber's mission of service for the betterment of the community. This year's program will award two $1,000 scholarships.

It is open to all graduating seniors in our service area that have been accepted for full time classes to an accredited college or university. Attached are the detailed guidelines and application. Entry deadline is April 25th, 2014.

Eligibility

Those eligible for the scholarship program include area high school students who have graduated, or will graduate, this academic year from an eligible public or private secondary school. Accredited home school students who will earn a high schooldiploma also are eligible. Applicants must reside in the chamber's service area, which includes the town of Winfield, Winfield Township, the Lake and Porter County sides of Lakes of the Four Seasons, and nearby west Porter Township residents attending Boone Grove H.S.To receive the award, applicants must be accepted for full-time classes in the next academic year at an accredited college, university or qualifying vocational/technical school and pursue a program of study that leads to a degree, professional certification or license.

Entry requirements

Applicants must compose an essay (see requirements below) and attach two (2) copies to the completed application form. Scholarship materials, which were distributed and available on March 18, must be received by the Chamber Scholarship Committee no later than Friday, April 25 at 3PM. Mail completed material to: WinfieldlLOFS Chamber of Commerce, "Scholarship Application," 10645 Randolph St., Winfield, IN 46307. Entrants may drop off their entry at the Chamber office (10645 Randolph St.) Monday through Friday between the hours of 10am-3pm. Entrants wishing to email the essays and application form may send them to office@winfieldchamber.com; request email return receipt to ensure it was received.

Essay requirements

Essays must be typed or electronically printed on white 8)1,x 11 paper and two (2) copies must be included with the application form unless submitted by em ail. The essay entries will be judged on a "blind" basis, with no names, addresses or other identifying information forwarded to the judges. The quality of each essay entry will be the sole determining factor in awarding the scholarships. Essays must be 500 to 650 words. The decision of the judges is final.
