Westchester Students Decorate Rain Barrels

westchester-rain-barrels-2014Westchester Intermediate School (WIS) students, under the direction of the WIS Student Council, participated in the second annual rain barrel contest through the Recycling & Waste Reduction District of Porter County. Schools were invited to participate in decorating a rain barrel for Earth Day.

Vote online for your favorite barrel at www.itmeanstheworld.org. The voting results will take place on April 19 at the Porter County Expo Center. Schools will be allowed to keep their rain barrels and put them to use at their school or the can choose to have the barrels auctioned off on April 19. Westchester students painted the barrels with the theme of Dr. Seuss’s character The Lorax. Pictured front, left to right, are Abbi Gillespie, Austin Vargas, Quentin Funderburg and Drew Engles.
