The Friends of Westchester Public Library invite the public to their computer equipment sale at Thomas Library, 200 W. Indiana Avenue, Chesterton, on Saturday, November 1, from 9:30 am – 2 pm. The sale will be held in the Bertha Wood meeting room on the second floor.

There will be a variety of monitors, printers, and computers for sale, as well as miscellaneous items.

All of the equipment has been tested, and will be sold as is. Sales are final; returns will not be accepted.

Library IT staff will be on hand to answer any questions.

Money Matters for Kids at Thomas Library
Children age 4 and up are invited to Westchester Public Library to participate in Money Matters, a program presented by 1st Source Bank of Chesterton at Thomas Library, 200 W. Indiana Avenue, Chesterton, on Friday, November 7, at 6:30 pm. Registration is necessary.

Children age 4-7 (kindergarten through grade 2) will meet in the Children’s Department and will learn how money flows throughout the community. Attendees will receive money coloring sheets with crayons provided by 1st Source Bank and will enjoy episodes of Centsibles if time allows.

Attendees age 8 and up (grades 3-5 or 6) will meet in the Bertha Wood meeting room on the second floor of Thomas Library. Enjoy money projects and earn fake money. Use the earned “money” to buy goodies provided by 1st Source Bank. Learn how to fill out a checkbook register and write a check. Solve a riddle. Learn origami with Leslie Cefali using new dollars provided by 1st Source Bank.

Trick-or-Treat at WPL
Life-sized Candy Land is back at Westchester Public Library on October 31 during the hours of 5:30-7:30 pm. Children are invited to come to Thomas Library, 200 W. Indiana Avenue, Chesterton to join the fun. Come in costume to trick-or-treat on the lower level of Thomas Library.

Windows 8.1 Class at Library
Registration for Westchester Public Library’s November 11 and 13 sessions of Introduction to Windows 8.1 will begin October 28. The classes will take place in the new classroom located in the Serials/Automation Department on the second floor of Thomas Library, 200 W. Indiana Avenue, Chesterton. The evening class will be held on Tuesday, November 11, from 6-8 pm. The afternoon class will take place on Thursday, November 13, from 1-3 pm. Classes are free but registration is required.

This class will be an introduction to Windows 8.1. Learn how to navigate and appreciate all the new features of this exciting new operating system. Become familiar with the touchscreen apps and desktop productivity. Learn how to work and play at the same time.

Attendees must have some computer knowledge and must know how to use a mouse. Typing skills are preferred but not necessary.
