GreatNews.Life, publishers of Valpo.Life, Portage.Life, LaPorteCounty.Life, and NWI.Life, is seeking a full-time Content Team Manager at the company's Valparaiso office.
Primary responsibilities will include:
- Coordinating publishing schedules, assigning news coverage, special assignments, and overseeing assignments
- Assist operations director in recruiting, training new staff, maintaining reporting, and communicating with core and field team
- Updating and managing the event calendar
- Event coverage on an as-needed basis
- Client engagement and project management
- Ability to address issues during after business hours
- Creating graphics as needed
Required qualifications:
- Ability to manage a team of full-time and freelance journalists in the office and out in the field.
- The ability to follow directions, think on your feet, and complete tasks in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to take constructive feedback
- Detail-oriented
- Passionate and enthusiastic about work
- Flexible in a role that is consistently changing, ability to work on occasional nights and weekends
Preferred Qualifications:
- Degree in English, Journalism, Communications or Marketing
- Experience using content management systems such as WordPress
- Solid understanding of social media and marketing including Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, and Instagram
- Experience writing and editing news articles
