Washington Park Zoo Hosts Annual Zoofari

zoofari1The Washington Park Zoo in Michigan City provides LaPorte County residents with a fun, unique and affordable option for family entertainment each summer.  The zoo hosted its annual Zoofari on Saturday to raise money for the Rebuild Washington Park Zoo Fund, which helps run the day-to-day operations of the zoo.

In addition to receiving the opportunity to see their favorite animals, attendees participated in silent auctions, enjoyed a barbeque style buffet dinner and drinks and took photos with animals.  Approximately 150 people made their way to the Zoofari.  The zookeepers put in the time and effort needed to make the event a success.

Zoo Director Johnny Martinez, who organized the event, has been a fixture at Washington Park Zoo for 14 years and in the zoo business for 40 years.  Assistant Director Jamie Huss has spent the past five years working at Washington Park Zoo.zoofari2
