WALKING FOR A DREAM

WALKING FOR A DREAM

The Tessmann family was one of the many participating in this year's Dream Walk hosted by Chasing Dreams to benefit individuals with disabilities which recently took place at Festival Park in Hobart.

The Dream Walk hosted by Chasing Dreams is personal for Alison Tessmann and her family, whose 4-year-old son, James, was diagnosed with Cerebral Palsy and Autism after suffering a stroke-causing Hypoxic ischemic encephalopathy due to lack of oxygen to the brain.

Attending their third Dream Walk Tessman said that it's a great way for families to come together and spend time with other families who are also going through similar situations. “Chasing dreams helps us not feel so alone”.

The event kicked off at Festival Park in Hobart with a tail-gating event where over 20 teams gathered to participate. Following the tail-gating event, the National Anthem was performed by a volunteer and team Miles for Maddy kicked off the walk. Once the walk ended the children were greeted by a crowd of people cheering them on and received superhero capes for completing the walk.

Proceeds gathered at this event help the organization's mission to provide programs free of charge to individuals and their families with disabilities. Chasing Dreams provides educational, therapeutic, and social programming that promotes building independent living skills.
