Volunteer at Meals on Wheels of NWI and Make a Difference

Meals-On-Wheels-NWI-New-LogoMeals on Wheels offers volunteer opportunities delivering meals in your own community Monday through Friday. Why not join us for our orientation/training programs in September? On Tuesday, September 8, at 10:00am, and again on Thursday, September 17, at 1:00 p.m. we will have a one hour training session here in our Community Room, located at 8446 Virginia Street, Merrillville. We are currently recruiting drivers/delivery volunteers in all of Lake County, but have a real need in the Miller and Highland communities. You could help one of your neighbors stay in their own homes by volunteering to help deliver meals. Each day, volunteers assist in the delivery of more than 1,200 meals throughout Lake County. According to Joan Vith, Volunteer Manager, “volunteers help us meet our goal of providing proper nutrition to those in need throughout Lake County. We are currently in need of new drivers in the Miller and Highland neighborhoods.”

Interested candidates are invited to attend Volunteer Orientation/Training at the Meals on Wheels Community Room, 8446 Virginia Street in Merrillville. The session lasts a little more than an hour. Applicants will have an opportunity to tour the facility and ask questions about Meals on Wheels and the different volunteer opportunities we have available.

To register for training, or for more information on individual or corporate volunteering opportunities, contact Joan at (219)-756-3663, or email joan@mownwi.org
