VNA of NWI Hospice appoints Drs. Venditti and Patel

The VNA of Northwest Indiana welcomes Joseph Venditti, M.D., F.A.C.S, F.A.C.C., F.A.C.C.P., as its Hospice Medical Director. Dr. Venditti was born in Massachusetts, and attended the University of Miami and New York University for his undergraduate studies. He went to medical school at the University of Pavia in Italy, interned at SUNY Buffalo, and completed residencies in Western New York at SUNY Buffalo and Roswell Park Memorial Institute. He is certified as a Fellow from the American Board of Thoracic Surgery. Dr. Venditti has been on staff at Porter since 1987 and at La Porte Hospital since 2004 and currently serves as a Trustee of La Porte Hospital and is the President of its Medical Staff. He is also a Physician Advisor for Porter’s Case Management Department. Dr. Venditti is married with three children, nine grandchildren and lives in Valparaiso.

The VNA of Northwest Indiana is also pleased to welcome Sunil Patel, MD, as a VNA Hospice Physician. Dr. Patel completed his medical education at B.J. Medical College in Ahmedabad, Gujarat India, and did his residency at Illinois Masonic Medical Center in Chicago. He is certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine. Dr. Patel is an Internal Medicine physician who has served as a Hospitalist at Porter Hospital since 2011, and prior to that was in private practice in Michigan City, Chesterton and Valparaiso. Dr. Patel is married, lives in Valparaiso with his wife, and has two children and three grandchildren.

Dr. Venditti and Dr. Patel will work hand in hand with VNA Hospice patients’ primary care physicians and VNA staff to develop and implement care plans that meet each patient’s individual needs. They will also provide clinical guidance to the VNA Hospice program and oversee the organization’s protocol for pain and symptom management.
