Visclosky Announces FAA Award for Griffith-Merrillville Airport

Congressman-Visclosky-HeadshotCongressman Pete Visclosky announced today that the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has awarded a grant to the Griffith-Merrillville Airport to perform an environmental assessment study.

According to the FAA, the $140,106 award will allow the airport to evaluate any potential environmental impacts related to the future acquisition of land adjacent to the facility.

Mr. Craig Anderson, General Manager and Vice President of the Griffith-Merrillville Airport, stated, “The future acquisition of this area will allow us to remove existing and potential obstructions and further protect the approach to one of our runways. We appreciate the continued assistance and support of Congressman Visclosky.”
