Vincennes University Hosts 26th North/South Indiana All-Star Classic

vincennes-universityAn elite group of the state's 2013-2014 senior players will participate in the 26th annual North-South Indiana All-Star Classic.

This girls¹ and boys¹ doubleheader will be played at Vincennes University in Vincennes, Indiana on Sunday, April 13th, at 2 p.m. (girls) and 4 p.m. (boys). The North/South Indiana All-Star Classic is sponsored by Hoosier Basketball Magazine and Pacesetter Sports of Terre Haute. It will be the third time that Vincennes University has hosted the event.

The girls' game features 2014 Indiana Miss Basketball‹ Whitney Jennings, Logansport. Jennings led the state in scoring (32 ppg) and is signed to play at the University of Iowa. Another top performer is Indiana signee Maura Muensterman, Evansville Mater Dei (22.7) who finished second in Miss Basketball voting. Other top scorers include Kindell Fincher, Fort Wayne Canterbury (25.8-Butler), Allison Nash, Speedway (24.9-Hanover), Haley Cook, Hamilton Heights (23.3-Kentucky Wesleyan).

Three Indiana Division I Universities have players representing their schools‹ Sydney Buck, Homestead (Butler), Allyson Bunch, Columbus East (IPFW) and Erica Moore, Mt. Vernon-Fortville (Purdue). Two other Division I talents are Kayla Brown, Westfield (Miami, Ohio) and Ana Owens, Lawrence North (Cincinnati).

Knox County is well represented with two players from Class "A" state runner-up Vincennes Rivet‹ Bailey Dreiman and Lauren Herman‹ along with Maria Gugliotta of North Knox. Finally, two Vincennes University recruits will also participate in the North/South Classic. They are Chelsea Bentley, Anderson and Alicia Wilson, Owen Valley.

The North girls will be coached by Jerry Hoover, Logansport. Evansville Memorial coach Bruce Dockery will lead the South girls. Matt Luce (Wapahani) is the North boys' coach while Sullivan's Jeff Moore directs the South boys.

Featured boys in the Classic include six Division I signees‹ Grant Evans, Wapahani (Wright State), Bryant McIntosh, Greensburg (Northwestern), Sean Sellers, Greensburg (Ball State), Grant Sims, Bloomington North (Illinois-Chicago), Elliott Welmer, Columbus North (St. Louis) and Tyler Wideman, Lake Central (Butler).

High scoring participants include P.J. Thompson, Brebeuf Jesuit (24.1 ppg) and Jacob Johnson, Mooresville (19.1). Vincennes high schools have three boys in the Classic. They are Avory Mickens and Josh Sprinkle of Vincennes Lincoln along with Zach Templin, Vincennes Rivet.
