Two Troopers Promoted to Corporal at Lowell State Police Post

lowell-corporalsRecently, Indiana State Police Superintendent Douglas Carter promoted Senior Trooper Mike Jones and Trooper Carl Hall to the rank of Corporal to serve as district duty officers of the Indiana State Police Lowell District. Jones and Hall were selected after competing in a stringent written and oral interview process. The Lowell District is comprised of seven counties; Lake, Porter, LaPorte, Newton, Jasper, Pulaski, and Starke.

Jones is a native of Porter County and a graduate of Chesterton High School. He attended Vincennes University and graduated with a degree in Criminal Justice and Security.

Jones began his law enforcement career in 2000 upon graduation from the Indiana State Police Academy. He was assigned to the Lowell Post and patrolled Lake County. In 2002, he was assigned as a trooper detective in the Gaming Division until he transferred to the Indianapolis Post. Two years later, Corporal Jones transferred back to the Lowell Post where he patrolled Porter and LaPorte Counties. In 2006, Jones completed seventeen weeks of canine school at the Allen County Sheriff’s Department in Fort Wayne and was assigned to the canine unit with his new K-9 partner “Boss”.

Jones during his career has been a Field Training Officer, Tactical Intervention Platoon, Canine instructor, EVOC instructor, RADAR/VASCAR instructor, GRIT Task Force, Safe School instructor, ILEA Generalist, Domestic Highway Enforcement, and was Trooper of the Year in 2007.

Corporal Jones resides in Porter County with his family.

Corporal Hall is a native of Lake County and a graduate of Lowell High School. He is attending Purdue University pursuing a degree in Criminal Justice.

Hall began his law enforcement career in 2007 upon graduation from the Indiana State Police Academy. He was assigned to the Lowell Post and patrolled Jasper and Newton Counties.

Hall during his career has been a Field Training Officer and on the Tactical Intervention Platoon. He also was awarded the Meritorious Service Award in 2013.

Hall resides in Jasper County with his family.
