Towle Youth Theater Ensemble Announces Auditions for the Musical Runaways

Towle-TheaterSince 2010, the Towle Youth Theater Ensemble, or TYTE, has been wowing NWI audiences with productions such as the Northwest Indiana Premiere of Jason Robert Brown’s 13, Anne of Green Gables, Laughing Stock, Clue the Musical & Do Black Patent Leather Shoes Really Reflect Up?. The next TYTE production will be the musical Runaways by Elizabeth Swados directed by Managing Director Jeff Casey and Musical Direction by Elizabeth Tuazon. The show will run October 15-18. Runaways is a collection of songs sung by troubled children. While the subject is primarily runaway children from broken homes, Runaways also comments on the larger world in which the children live.

Auditions will be held on Tuesday, August 4 and Wednesday, August 5 at 1pm at the Towle Theater; 5205 Hohman Avenue, Hammond IN. If you are auditioning for a role in the show, please prepare 32 bars from the Broadway song of your choice, ballad or up-tempo. You will need to have sheet music (IN THE PROPER KEY), preferably memorized. You will be asked to read from the script, learn a short movement audition and you may be asked to sing from the show. Script and song cuttings can be found at www.towletheater.org.

If you'd like to interview for any opportunities not on stage, please call to schedule a date to come as well.

Students from all over NW Indiana and Southern suburbs of Chicago are strongly encouraged to audition. Those who audition and don’t make the cast or anyone interested in off-stage/back-stage involvement will work on small committees for the show including box office, tech and PR/marketing.
