With any front-facing position in the automotive industry, finding a dealership whose values align with your own is important for career success. When Sales Product Specialist Jeremie Sharp left his role in used car sales for something new, he found his home at Thomas Dodge Chrysler Jeep RAM of Highland.
“I actually haven’t been with Thomas Dodge for very long,” Sharp said. “I came from the used car industry before I started at Thomas Dodge, and I’ve tried to bring a similar energy and routine moving from selling used cars to new cars.”
Sharp’s efforts have already begun to pay off. After just two months on the job, he was named one of the dealership’s top producers for January 2025. While it’s easy to imagine the designation earned strictly for selling the most cars, a top producer actually goes above and beyond in forming relationships with those who enter the dealership.
“It’s not just sales numbers; it’s an everyday thing,” Sharp said. “I try to greet everyone who walks through the door, whether it’s for service, parts, or to buy a new car. I want everyone to feel welcome, no matter what they’re here for.”
It’s this attitude that has helped Sharp succeed at Thomas Dodge. The dealership is known for its friendly and high-quality service that develops from a working knowledge of the dealership’s inventory and each customer’s individual needs.
“Most people can sell a car, but to do it consistently, it’s not only your tone or always having a smile on your face,” Sharp said. “If a customer comes in saying they want a car with a $500 payment, you have to know not to show them the $60,000 car. I try to make sure that the only thing stopping a customer from getting a car from me is price or income.”
This customer treatment keeps customers coming back to Thomas Dodge, something that Sharp really enjoys.
“I love it when customers come back. That really puts a smile on my face,” he said. “Since I started in November, I’ve seen people come back for everything from oil changes to car washes. I’m happy to do anything that keeps the customer happy.”
Another key to Sharp’s success is the team at Thomas Dodge. He’s learned a lot already from the other salespeople.
“The management team here has really guided me and shown me the ropes. They’ve been able to teach me not only how to respond well to customers but the true artistry of sales,” Sharp said. “The main thing that’s allowed me to succeed is sitting down and listening. I might be at my desk with no customers or any phone calls, but I have a guy in front of me who has 15 or 20 years in the industry, so I listen to how he talks to customers.”
Sharp is grateful to the team around him, whether that’s management supporting his growth or peers helping coordinate sales and share the wealth.
“When I first started at Thomas Dodge, I told them that I hadn’t sold new cars before. They still gave me a chance,” Sharp said. “I really appreciate the training and everything they’ve been able to do for me. They’ve helped me take the good days and the bad days and really great days in stride, to keep open and growing.”
