The Towle Theater is proud to host a Tony Party to raise funds for the ever-growing Towle Youth Theater Ensemble. The evening is being underwritten by these generous cooperate sponsors: Accucraft Imaging, Albert’s Diamond Jewelers, American Community Bank, Korellis Roofing, Myers Glaros Group, Purdue University Calumet, Star Plaza Theatre and Vanis Salon and Day Spa.
Towle Youth Theater Ensemble (TYTE) was established in 2010 to provide local students interested in and passionate about the theater arts an immersive, professional environment to learn, grow and mentor alongside like minded students. TYTE is open to students ranging in age from 12-18 and grades 6-12. Depending on the area of interest, students interview or audition and interview to become a member. Members fulfill every area of production from the roles on stage to lighting to box office.
TYTE produces 2 fully staged productions each year including a non-musical in the spring and a musical in the fall. The work ranges from classics such as Anne of Green Gables (2011) to an original adaptation of Romeo and Juliet (2014).
Past and current members are a diverse group representing the communities of Crown Point, Dyer, Hammond, Munster, Valparaiso and Whiting in Indiana as well as Beecher and Chicago, Illinois. TYTE alumni are currently attending Columbia College, DePaul, Indiana University, Indiana State University, Loyola, Northwestern and NYU amongst others.
While the program doesn’t serve huge numbers of students, the Towle is proud to offer an in-depth, professional experience for local students who want to explore the theater arts and perhaps pursue a career in the theater arts. Regardless of how the experience is applied, the students flourish during the program, increasing self-confidence, self esteem and developing stronger communication skills.
The Tony Party will be held on Sunday, June 7 at 6pm. The event will take place at Briar Ridge Country Club, 123 Country Club Drive, Schererville, IN. Tickets are $69 in honor of the 69th Annual Tony Awards. You ticket includes a beautiful spread designed for the event by the chefs at Briar Ridge, Champagne and Signature drink. There will be a cash bar, a ballot contest and auction and of course the live televised Tony Awards on multiple flat screens. Award appropriate attire (Black Tie is strongly encouraged as is funky, costume and artistic).
